The Hispano-Suiza H6 was a versatile vehicle built as a luxury car, but was such an impressive design it was also raced. The car was produced from 1919 to 1936 in various configurations by the factory as well as independent coachbuilders. Notable coachbuilders of H6s were: Chavet, Belvallette, Chapron, Weymann, Mulliner, and Hibbard & Darrin. The car was produced in 3 variants, the H6, H6B, and H6C. Five race versions of the H6B were built and called the "Boulogne," and several race versions of the H6C were named "Monzas." H6 race cars were made famous by André Dubonnet, a pilot and race driver. The model was renowned for its straight-six engine that eventually reached 8.0L in capacity. In 1933 the H6 was replaced by the Hispano-Suiza J-12.
