For the 1998 model year, Honda introduced their updated NA2 Honda NSX, with these early NA2 cars referred to as the 'Pre-facelift' cars. The NA2 NSX Coupe was the fixed-roof version of these cars, featuring the larger 3.2L V6 engine as their powerplant. In addition to this more powerful 290hp engine, a 6 speed manual transmission was now offered in place of the prevous 5 speed unit, while a 4 speed automatic continued to be available. Production of the NA2 'Pre-facelift' NSX Coupe lasted until 2001, when Honda replaced it was the refreshed NA2 'Facelift' NSX Coupe.
