As is common with many popular models, the 1st Gen Honda NSX was often converted into a Race Car. With it's sporty nature, the NSX was raced by both professional race teams, as well as amateur enthusiasts, adapted for various motorsports categories both in Japan and internationally. These racing variants were extensively modified with lightened and strengthened bodies, powered by race prepared engines. The NSX competed in series such as the Japan Grand Touring Car Championship where it was developed by Honda Racing. It also participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
