The Jeep was introduced by Hotchkiss in 1945. It was a licensed French version of the famous Willys MB, for military and civilian use. Officially designated the Hotchkiss M201, this vehicle was produced almost identical to the original Jeep, with some mechanical and manufacturing improvements. It was available exclusively all-wheel drive with a 3 or 4-speed manual transmission and an inline four engine. It was widely used by the French Army during the Algerian War and on NATO missions. The Hotchkiss Jeep M201 was produced until 1967.
