Jeep is an American automotive manufacturer that traces its origins to Willys-Overland's Willys MB off-road military truck. Better known as the Willys Jeep, the Willys MB, and its civilian version, the Jeep CJ, became a cultural icons, making the word jeep a universal term for off-road 4x4 trucks. The Jeep brand has gone through several different owners, first with Willys-Overland, then Kaiser, AMC, Chrysler, and is currently under the control of Fiat. While the company has gone through many phases during its life, its reputation for creating highly capable off-road trucks and SUVs is amongst the best in the world.
