The Lanchester 40, also seen as the Forty, or 40hp, was a family of automobiles that first debuted in 1914. The 40 was built in two evolutions, a brief offering in 1914, and then a larger production evolution from 1919 to 1928. The 1914 Lanchester was powered by a 5.5L I6 while the later cars (1919-1928) featured a 6.2L inline six. Both evolutions were rear wheel drive, and were equipped with manual transmissions. Production of the Lanchester 40 ended in 1928.
