Beginning in 1954, Brian Lister brought out the first in a series of sports cars from a Cambridge iron works and succesfully campaigned them all throughout Europe and the UK. Started with a car based on an MG platform, moving on to develop Maserati and Bristol based sportscars, of which the latter won the 2.0 liter class in the 1954 Silverstone GP. In 1957, the company moved to a new platformed based on the Jaguar D-Type XK engine with a new aerodynamic aluminum body, which won the British Empire Trophy in 1957. Later on, in 1958, aerodynamicist Frank Costin was hired to develop the last of the Lister racers of the 50's, based on a Corvette platform. During the 90's after a failed effort for a long production run of continuation versions of the Listers late 50's racers, during new ownership the company developed the Lister Storm and then in 2003 a Le Mans open-top prototype. Finally, during 2014 and 2017 a revived Lister Motors, again under new ownership, produced several continuations of the classic late 50's racers.
