For the decade of the 80’s Lola started the new season with the famous T500 model that achieved great success in the last few years, with a win at the 1978 Indy 500; it was powered by a Ford/Cosworth boosting 840hp. In 1983 the newly developed T700 was launched and due to regulation changes it was powered down to 700hp, still powered by the Ford-Cosworth engine. For the 1984 season the T800 came to life, with a very successful track record of clinching the championship and taking victory at the Indy 500 this year; it was still powered by the Ford/Cosworth engine. In 1985 the T900 was introduced, then the T86/00 for the 1986 season and the T87/00 for the 1987; all three models were powered by the same Ford-Cosworth engine. The T88/00 was manufactured for the 1988 season, only this time three engines were available; Ilmor-Chevrolet, Judd AV and Ford/Cosworth. For the last season of the decade, the T89/00 was launched, with a Ford-Cosworth engine of Buick Indy V6. With out question, the most renowned driver for lola during the 1980’s was Mario Andretti.
