The original Indy Lights series was founded in 1986, firs called the American Racing Series (ARS) then changed names to Indy Lights in 1991. This was a CART sanctioned series that served as a seedbed for the Indy/CART series. Lola was awarded to contract to fully supply the series from 1992 to 2001, taking this business from March. By using a modified F3000 chassis Lola started to supply the Indy Lights series, it wasn’t until 1997 that had a mayor update by using an aluminum and carbon-fiber tub named the T97/20. Along the 9 years of supplying the championship the Buick V6 4.2L was used paired to a Hewland gearbox.
