The Marcos Mantula was first introduced by Marcos in 1983, externally like the old GT, but now powered by a 3.5-litre Rover V8 paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Later, the engine evolved into the Rover Vitesse EFi engine, and later Mantulas were fitted with the 3.9L EFi engine. In 1986 the model was available as a convertible known as the Marcos Spyder, which would outsell the coupes in later production. In 1989 the Mantula got independent rear suspension together with the rear disc brakes. Production of the Marcos Mantula ended in 1991.
