The A6GCS was introduced in 1947 as a racing car version of the Maserati A6. Its name indicates its characteristics: "A6" for the inline six ​​engine, "G" for ghisa (cast iron block), "C" for corsa (race car), and "S" for sport. It was produced in various configurations, mostly as a barchetta, with some coupe versions bodied by firms such as Pininfarina and Zagato. It featured rear-wheel drive, a 4 speed manual transmission and a 2.0L inline six ​​engine, which developed up to 170hp in its most tuned versions. It was built specifically to compete in endurance events such as the Mille Miglia, being one of Maserati's most successful models in the post-war period, notable for its lightness, agility and aerodynamic design. The Maserati A6GCS was produced until 1957.
