The A6GCS/53 was introduced in 1953 as a version of the Maserati A6. It was a racing car designed for endurance racing and open-road events such as the Mille Miglia. Its name indicates its characteristics: A6 (6 cylinder engine), G (cast iron block), C (corsa – competition), S (sport), and 53 for the year of its design. Most units were built as two-seater barchettas with lightweight aluminum bodies, many designed by Fantuzzi, although some closed coupes by Pininfarina were also produced. It featured rear-wheel drive, a 4 speed manual transmission and a 2.0L inline six engine developing up to 170hp. Only about 52 units were built and its remembered as one of the most beautiful and efficient Maseratis of the era. The Maserati A6GCS/53 was produced until 1955.
