The RX-7 Type RS-R was a limited edition variant of the 3rd Gen (FD) Mazda RX-7 that debuted in 1997. The Type RS-R was created to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Mazda's first production rotary engine, and was limited to just 500 examples for the Japanese market. These cars were only available in a coupe body style and were powered by a twin-turbo 1.3L twin-rotor rotary engine that generated 276hp. A 5 speed manual was the sole transmission offering, with drive being sent to the rear wheels.
