The RX-8 40th Anniversary Edition was a limited production variant of the Mazda RX-8 that was offered for the 2008 model year. Created to celebrate 40 years since the introduction of Mazda's first rotary engine, the RX-8 40th Anniversary was powered by a 1.3L Wankel Rotary engine that sent power to the rear wheels through a 6 speed manual or 6 speed automatic transmission. Depending on the market, the 40th Anniversary Edition was offered in white, gray, blue, or black exterior colors. Available exclusively in 2008, under 2,000 examples of the Mazda RX-8 40th Anniversary Edition were built.
