Mercedes-Benz 170S - W191 (1949 to 1953)

Mercedes-Benz introduced the 170S in 1949. The 170 S was a luxury car based on the 170V, even using the same W136 chassis for the first years of production. As the first car to be designated with an 'S,' many consider these cars to be the genesis of the S-Class lineage. The 170 S was mainly built as a 170S Saloon or two 170S Cabriolet variants, yet also had a few examples that were built as ambulances and delivery vans. Production of the 170S lasted until 1955.
