The Mercedes-Benz 560SEL 6.0 AMG was introduced in 1984 and rapidly became one of the most powerful sedans on the road. The 6.0 AMG was based on the Mercedes-Benz 560 SEL, but was equipped with a range of tuning and improvements. The 6.0 AMG's party piece was its engine, originally a 5.6L V8 unit, AMG bored the engine to 6.0L and gave it four valves per cylinder and dual-overhead camshafts. This mighty engine generated 380hp and 410 lb-ft of torque that was transmitted to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. When creating the 6.0, AMG not only reworked the engine, but the suspension and interior, creating a truly special machine. One of the most notable features on the 6.0 AMG was the 'Wide Body' aero kit that gave the car a menacing and sporty look. The 560SEL 6.0 AMG was one of the first sedans to break the 187mp/h (300km/h) barrier.
