Mercury Eight - 2nd Gen (1941 to 1948)

The second generation Mercury Eight was introduced for the 1941 model year. This updated generation of Eight featured new styling and upgrades, as well as a new 3.9L V8 engine. The second generation Eight was available in coupe, convertible, station wagon, and sedan body styles. The "Sportsman," a wood panelled convertible variant, was only available for the 1946 model year. Production of the second generation was halted in early 1942 due to WW2, but manufacturing restarted for the 1946 model year. The second generation finally ended production in 1948, and was replaced by the Third Generation Mercury Eight.
