The first generation of Mercury Marquis was introduced for the 1967 model year. The first generation of Marquis was offered as a two door hardtop, and was fitted with a choice of three V8 engines (6.4L, 6.7L, 7.0L). The first generation Marquis was distinguishable by its vinyl roof, a feature available only for this model. Production of the first generation Marquis continued until 1968, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Mercury Marquis.
