Mitsubishi 3000GT - 1st Gen (1990 to 1993)

The Mitsubishi 3000GT was a series of sports cars introduced in 1990 for the Japanese market (sold there as the GTO), and 1991 for the North American market. The first generation 3000GT, known internally as the Z16A, was offered as a two door coupe, although some aftermarket convertible conversions were produced. The 3000GT was mainly available as a four wheel drive car, with the few front wheel drive versions made only available in the US. A selection of three 3.0L V6 engines were offered, including naturally aspirated, 24 valve, and 24 valve twin turbo. One of the most notable features of the 3000GT was its four wheel steering system, fitted on all first generation cars. Three main trim levels were offered, base, SL, and VR-4. The 3000GT VR-4 was the high performance variant, which featured the 3.0L twin turbo engine. Due to Mitsubishi's collaboration with Chrysler during the time, a badge engineered version of the 3000GT known as the Dodge Stealth was also sold. The first generation of 3000GT ended production in 1993, with an updated Z16A and newly introduced Z15A being known as the Second Generation Mitsubishi 3000GT.
