The second generation of Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 was introduced for the 1996 model year. The second generation VR-4 was the performance variant of the Second Generation 3000GT. The VR-4 was offered as a two door coupe with a liftback trunk. Mitsubishi fit the VR-4 with a 3.0L twin turbo V6 engine that produced 320hp. Production of the second generation 3000GT VR-4 lasted until 1996, and was replaced by the Third Generation Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. An open top version was also produced, known as the VR-4 Spyder.
