The first generation of Packard Clipper was introduced for the 1941 model year. The Clipper featured dramatic new styling that would eventually work its way onto the entire Packard range. The first generation Clipper was produced in 1941 as an inline eight powered sedan, but for 1942, the range was expanded with more body styles as well as a six cylinder engine option. Production of the first generation of Packard Clipper would be suspended in 1942 due to WW2, but would resume for 1946. For 1946 and 1947, all cars produced by Packard were Clippers, and they were available in a range of closed top body styles and were fitted with a six or eight cylinder engine. Production of the first generation of Packard Clipper ended in 1947, and the name would be reborn in 1953 for the Second Generation Packard Clipper.
