In late 1966 Porsche introduced a more powerful variant of the 911 called the 911S (S = Super). During it's production years it received several upgrades, most notably in the form of larger engine displacement. First launched with a 2.0 Liter engine, it evolved for 1969 with a longer wheelbase, followed by the 2.2L for model year 1970, a 2.4L in 1972, and finally a 2.7 Liter engine for model year 1974. The 1973 2.4L variant represented the final iteration of the model with non-impact bumpers. Note that many of the samples in these markets have undergone engine modifications. The 911S was phased out with the introduction of the Porsche 911 SC for model year 1978.
