The automatic-equipped Cayman Base Model debuted for the 2006 model year. The Base Cayman was the standard variant of the 987.1 Porsche Cayman. Available exclusively as a coupe, these cars were powered by a 2.7L flat six engine that generated 242hp that was sent to the rear wheels through a 5 speed automatic (Tiptronic) transmission. Production of the automatic 987.1 Cayman ended in 2008, but the variant would continue in the next generation as part of the 987.2 Porsche Cayman.
