Unable to reach production in 2005, the Shelby Series 2 has recently found new life in 2018. Three prototypes were built 2005, and customers had placed deposits, but issues with with new safety and emissions standards caused the project to be cancelled. Recently, Shelby American, in collaboration with Wingard Motorsports, has started to build the Series 2 as a limited production car built on original unused Series 1 frames. Each car is custom made to customer specifications, and are listed on the Shelby American Registry with a CSX55xx VIN.
