The Studebaker President was first introduced in 1927. The first generation President represented Studebaker's most luxurious and refined offering, and was designed to be the best car on the road. These new rear wheel drive cars were available in roadster or sedan body styles, and featured distinctive oval headlights beginning in 1931. Initially, a 5.8L inline six engine was used, but in 1928, a 5.1L inline eight was fitted. That engine lasted until 1931, when a large 5.6L inline eight was used. Production of the first generation President lasted until 1933, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Studebaker President.
