The T40/T50 third generation Toyota Corona was introduced in 1964. It marked a return of Toyota to the American market after withdrawing there temporarily in 1961. The T40/50 was available in sedan, coupe, van, wagon, and hatchback, although the more common variants for the US were the coupe and sedan body styles. Engine options varied per country, but the common one for the US market was the 1.9L inline four, powering the rear via manual or automatic transmission options. This generation was notable as it was one of the first Toyota models to be designed with the international market in mind. The T40/T50 was produced until 1970, when it was replaced by the T80/90 fourth generation Toyota Corona.
