Toyota Corona - T170 - 8th Gen (1987 to 1992)

The T170 eighth generation Toyota Corona was introduced in 1987. It was available in sedan, wagon and liftbacks. It was the first to fully adopt front-wheel drive for all standard versions, with the exception of some commercial all-wheel drive variants. The T170 offered an extensive engine range including gasoline and diesel options such as the 1.6L, 1.8L and 2.0L, as well as turbodiesel versions. In transmission options, 4 or 5 speed automatic were available. This generation was notable for its mechanical reliability, more spacious interior and focus on passive safety, including crumple zones and seatbelt pretensioners. The T170 was produced until 1992, when it was replaced by the T190/200 ninth generation Toyota Corona.
