The Triumph 1800 Roadster, also referred to as 18TR, was a model born towards the end of WWII, after the Triumph brand had been bought by the Standard Motor Company in 1944. The managing director, Sir John Black wanted to compete with Jaguar that had used Standard engines in the pre-war. The 1800 Roadster used a straight-four 1776cc engine with Solex carburetors mated to a 4 speed manual transmission. Production ran from 1946 to 1948 when the 2000 Roadster was introduced.
