UAV, short for Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod, is a Russian automotive manufacturer that is well known for creating off-road vehicles, trucks, and buses. The company was founded in 1941 when the Russian government decided to relocate various industrial centers to more central locations due to the outbreak of WW2. UAZ is well known for the UAZ-469 utility vehicle, which was widely used by Eastern Bloc militaries after WW2.
