The Volkswagen Sharan was a seven-seater minivan that debuted for the 1995 model year. The Sharan was produced across two genrations sharing platform with the Seat Alhambra and Ford Galaxy. The Volkwagen Sharan was not sold in the North American marcked due to an agreement between Ford and Volkswagen. Even though the Sharan was a very popular variant, it is considered highly unreliable and performed poorly. After problems were addressed, the Sharan became the best selling MPV in Germany. The Volkswagen Saharan ended production in 2022.
