Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automotive manufacturer that is part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which traces its roots to 1884. The first Mitsubishi car was the Model A, which was Japan's first mass produced automobile. The company had numerous interests in the pre-war era, and did not focus on mass produced cars until after WW2. As the company grew in a post-war world, models such as the Minica and Galant established a solid reputation for the company, but it was Mitsubishi's off-road racing exploits that would endear it to motoring enthusiasts around the world. Mitsubishi actively participated in the World Rally Championship and Paris-Dakar Rally for a number of years, with the Lancer Evolution winning multiple drivers and constructors championships and the Pajero winning the Dakar a staggering 12 times. These successes made these cars legends worldwide, while other models such as the 3000GT and Eclipse have also brought recognition.
