what’s the difference between deluxe and super deluxe?
The 1947 Ford Super Deluxe was the top-tier trim level above the standard Deluxe, with the main differences being cosmetic and trim-related rather than mechanical. Both models shared the same 239 cubic inch flathead V8 engine and 3-speed manual transmission!
Here’s what set the Super Deluxe apart:

Interior Features
Mechanically, they were identical - same flathead V8 (~100 hp), same transmissions, same chassis. The Super Deluxe simply offered more visual presence and that “top-of-the-line” Ford experience for buyers who wanted something spiffier than the standard Deluxe.
The vehicle you’re looking at - the 1947 Ford Deluxe four-door sedan - has that classic post-war Ford look with plenty of brightwork already, but a Super Deluxe would have had even more chrome trim and that distinctive hood ornament.
