1956 Chevy 210 post hot rod

This car was purchased as a project car back in 2005-2006. However, it wasn't until 2009 that the owner really dove into the restoration/resto-mod.

The body of the car was good aside from some rust in the driver floor which was repaired.

A Chevy 350/350 crate engine was ordered, dressed up with billet and chrome and dropped in and mated up to a TH350, shifted by a ratchet B&M shifter.

Aluma-coat headers get the exhaust out through 2.5" stainless exhaust pipes and Flowmaster mufflers. An aluminum radiator was installed along with a flex fan for cooling and Vintage Air was also installed. Power steering and power brakes keep the car under control, however, the brakes were kept as all drum. His son feels that disc brakes were going to happen, but were not checked off the list before his dad fell ill.

The engine also includes a GM Performance aluminum 4 bbl intake and a Holley 4 BBL carb sits atop it, GM electronic ignition provides the fire.

To help the handling, new springs, shocks and bushings were set in place F&R and sway bars front and rear were added to the mix. The stock rear end was rebuilt, we don't know the ratio but it definitely feels like posi when you stomp on it.

The body was treated to a beautiful deep red metallic paint, all the chrome was sent out and redone, the stainless trim was all polished, LED headlamps and tail-lights added for improved vision and a third LED brake light was hidden in the rear Chevrolet emblem.

On the interior, the stock seats were reupholstered in a balck and silver vinyl to keep a stock feel and appeal, door cards, carpet and headliner were all part of the deal. The steel dash was repainted and the chrome and trim taken care of here as well. An aftermarket stereo and speakers were installed, Cool-It thermo mat was installed under the new carpets and in the finished trunk. The speedo and original fuel gauge work, three new Auto-Gauge gauges were tucked up under the dash, they all work and keep track of Oil Pressure (the engine with less than 5000 miles on it, builds beautiful pressure, 35-40 at warm idle, over 50 psi when first strated), Water temp (she idles strong at 190 degrees and stays there even in 98 degree Florida sun) and volts. The Vintage Air blows icy cold, which is needed in southwest Florida where the car currently resides.

The one unfortunate of the interior is the odd wear that has occurred on the driver seat black vinyl. (see in pictures).

The build was finished in about 2015 and the owner was able to enjoy the car for several years before falling ill. While he's still with us, he is unable to drive or even enjoy being in the car anymore, and many details of the build are with him unable to be shared.

During the time the car was out and about it traveled throughout the northeast and even south to many national hot rod shows. It was moved to Florida in 2019. It has pretty much been off the road since 2020, with his son starting it occasionally, but not really ever driving it.

With the decision made to sell this car, it was brought to a local garage where they drained the tank and put a new filter in, did a minor tune on her. She fires right up and as mentioned, builds great oil pressure. When she fired up the first time I started her, there was some minor smoke, but quickly went away, guessing it's just some leak down after sitting. The rings need to come back around, she needs to be driven, plain and simple.

I had her out and about for a little while, just idling around the gated community roads, but trouncing on it on some of the highway like main roads. She very easily lights up the Sumitomo rubber (235/55/R17 F&R, mounted on Billet Specialties wheels).

All the lights work, wipers work, horn works, radio works and most importantly, the AC blows cold.

Turn the key, give her two pumps and she fires right up, idles nicely, sounds awesome and runs and drives excellent.

Because the build is about 10 years old, there are only a couple very minor issues in the paint (pointed out specifically in photos).

This car can easily hold her own at any cruise night, cars and coffee and can probably trophy at local shows. Underhood is painted, under body is painted and undercoated, the trunk is fully finished and carpeted (the speakers are tucked behind a special panel but not installed up into the package tray).

This is a turn key, show ready Chevrolet 210 post, in stunning condition.
