A Facel Vega is a special car, no matter which model we’re talking about or in what condition the car is in. However, some stand out even more. For example, a fantastically restored FV2B in a beautiful colour combination. The second series FV2 is seen by many enthusiasts as the most desirable version, and when we explain why, you may well agree.

Let’s go back in time to 1954, to be precise. Facel presents the Vega in 1954 at the Paris Motor Show. A highly exclusive French car aimed at buyers who are usually found in a Rolls-Royce and cost even more when new. Not only does the design have an American touch, but under the hood, it’s also ‘typically USA’ with a 4.5-liter Hemi V8 engine from DeSoto. Over the years, the Facel underwent minor changes, with the biggest change being the stunning panoramic windshield introduced in 1956. This very tasteful improvement features proudly in this dark blue Facel. The FV2B made its debut in March 1956, with its successor, the FV3, already to be presented in November of that year. As a result, only 74 units of this variant were built, featuring the beautiful wide windshield but still retaining the characteristic single headlights. Later, these were replaced by double headlights placed one above the other.

This car was built in 1956, when the model was gaining popularity. Advertising was not necessary, neither were dealers: the car sold itself, and waiting lists stretched up to 8 months. The car was sold directly from the factory to the first owner, industrialist Gérard Foussier. A later German owner had the car completely restored in 2012, resulting in the car now being in truly perfect condition. The bodywork is formidable, and dark blue is perhaps the most beautiful colour for a car with such a beautiful line and so much stylish chrome work. Just look at the front with the beautiful light housings and the incredibly beautiful grille: does it get any better than this? The details contrast wonderfully with the dark colour, and everything you see is simply pristine.

The interior is, if possible, even more beautiful than the exterior. Impressive use of red leather and wood creates a unique atmosphere. There are the elegant gauges and the impressive steering wheel in front of you as you sink into the French-comfortable seats: what luxury!

To top it all, the car is also matching numbers, with the original 5.4-liter Chrysler De Soto V8 Hemi S-24 engine, larger and more powerful than the FV2.
It is estimated that there are still about 40 FV2Bs remaining from the already limited production numbers. This is one of very few equipped with a manual transmission, a four speed Pont-a-Mousson gearbox.

What class!
