1957 356 A Sunroof Coupe
4th owner from new (1st 2 owners were family)
Black with red interior, 2.3 liter motor, disk brakes, custom fuel tank, original sunroof car.
Bare metal restoration completed in 2010.
Motor is a Type 1 2.3 liter with low miles on it built by FAT Performance by the original owners of the company. All documentation of motor specs available.
Transmission is a 4 speed built by Rancho Transmissions with receipts.
Interior has speedster seats, hidden stereo, rebuilt gauges, battery and fuel pump kill switches and original style back seats.
Exterior is stock aside from bumpers removed and fog lights added on custom nerf bars. Rear nerf bars included but not installed.
Brakes are 944 disks and master cylinder upfront, disk conversion in rear with functioning emergency brake.
Wheels are custom made Rudge Knockoff style wheels made by Coddington.
Electrical system converted to 12v, entire wiring harness replaced, extra VDO gauges hidden under the dash.
Car has won 1st in San Diego PCA Concours in Outlaw Class, featured at many shows including multiple Luftgekuhlt events as well as articles written about it.
I have lots of documentation of the restoration and most receipts and other records for the car including the COA.
Original owner was in the military and bought the car new in Germany. He owned it until his nephew was given the car and proceeded to fully restored it. The 3rd owner upgraded the seats and wheels. I have owned the car for about 11yrs and have gone through the entire car upgrading brakes, rebuilding motor and transmission etc.
