My car is a 1960 Series 63 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. My family is the original and continual owner. In one of the photos, you can view the owner’s manual from the glovebox. The car was purchased by my grandfather to introduce his first grandchild to friends and family. Sadly, he passed away in 1962, and the Caddy sat in my grandmother’s garage for several years. Years later, my mother started driving the car. The Cadillac was used regularly for transportation for several years. In 1967, my father received a promotion and was given a department vehicle, which made our VW bus available again, so the Cadillac was mostly kept in the garage after that. My Mother passed away in 1975, and the car has accumulated less than 1,000 miles since then. My Dad passed the car to me officially in 2016. In 2018, I had her transported to Naples Florida where I had relocated from Connecticut. The car has been covered and garaged always. In 2023 as I was relocating from Florida to the Aspen area in Colorado, I purchased a new trailer for her and that is where she currently resides. I haven’t quite recovered from a medical incident somewhat limiting my mechanical abilities, and decided it’s time for her to move on, to be shown or at least appreciated and given the care and attention the lovely older lady deserves.
The entire car is original, all matching numbers and in great shape. She has 47,467 miles currently. On the 63 series more options were available over the 62 series and this car is equipped originally with the full leather seats (I understand very rare option on the Coupe de Villes and in excellent condition except for one button missing on the driver’s seat, I haven’t yet located). When closed up the smell of the leather permeates the interior. I think it has the EZ eye glass with the blue top edge on the windshield. She also has the original signal seeking operable AM radio with power extending antenna. The car is also equipped with 6 way power front seat and windows, all operable. She also has the Autronic eye as I’ve heard it called, that operates the high beams in regards to oncoming traffic. She also has the optional factory fog lights. (there is a 1960 Cadillac Fact Sheet online at [website hidden])
She is not perfect, however. About 10 years ago I noticed some wetness on the rug near the front seat passenger’s feet. I found it to be from the heater core area. I re-routed the heater hose under the hood, dried out the rug and never got back to it. It may be the heater core or the hose connection. The factory installed A/C did function about the same time, however while the compressor cycles appropriately now the blowing air does not cool. I think it needs a freon re-charge, however since it is R-12 I’m not sure the correct method is to convert the dryer and change refrigerant or does that stray too far from original? The dual exhaust has been replaced a few times and the last time I left off the dual resonators just prior to the tailpipes. From memory I recall 2 rot spots just behind the front wheels. I believe they were repaired in in 1977. I really don’t have anyone to ask so feel free to inspect.
I will accompany this explanation with photos, including some of original paperwork that I possess. I can also respond to interested parties initially by e-mail.
