About this 1965 Mercedes-Benz 220S

VIN: 11101210141257

Exterior: The Mercedes W111 220 SB from 1965 we are presenting here had a professional repaint 1992 with km reading 125.496. And the W111 Mercedes has travelled 8556km since. It is today in very close to perfect original condition. All of the chrome details are just beautiful and shiny. All rubber details are in a healthy state and the front windscreen was replaced when the car was repainted. In November 2025 a new set of Michaelin tires with a thin white line was installed giving this large saloon the handling Mercedes intended it to have while still being smooth. The underside of the car is free from corrosion and has no welding scars.

Interior: To open the door of this 1965 Mercedes 220 SB is like taking a big step back in time. A time when a car like Mercedes only used the best of material, and even though there is not that much equipment everything is well thought trough and every switch feels like it was built to last forever. It is still a mystery to me how a cloth interior can be so clean after all these years. Inside this car everything is original! Yes, the varnish on the wood panels has some cracks in them. But this instrumentation cluster is so beautiful specially when you drive in the dark with the lights on. Also, the headliner is perfect and also in the trunk it is all original and perfect. Original seat belts are fitted. All equipment and all instruments work as they should.

Engine and technical: The Mercedes W11 220 is very easy to start and has automatic cold start. The engine sounds very good and it is very easy and smooth to shift trough the manual gearbox. The car feels very solid on the road and this engine has enough torque to go around corners in third gear. No overheating issues and the last service work was done late 2025.

History: This Mercedes 220 Sb was sold new here in Sweden on the 30th of November 1965 to Bengt Gunnarsson (born 1907) It was then past on to his daughter that had the W111 until 1990 and the final owner had the car until 2025. This is a car that has been garage kept pretty much its entire life. And that is the reason for this truly exceptional condition. In 1992 the car received two new front wings and then a full professional repaint. It comes with a binder of invoices for parts and work carried out over the years. Also, many of the Swedish test certificates to verify the low km reading of the car. Original books and tools. Also a very nice original prospect from Mercedes.

Original colour DB190 Graphite grey
Original engine according to the datacard
Delivered with grey cloth interior, still original today.
Just like it says in the original prospect: This is a car for the man or woman with refined taste.
Why should you buy this Mercedes 220 SB? This is a car that makes you relax. After a few kilometers you realize the car almost drives itself and you can focus on the scenery more than the driving. It is a very comfortable seating position, specially if you are a grown man. You can bring your best friends and they will also enjoy the comfort and space in the backseat. And you can still fit up to 5 bodies in the trunk and the car looks so elegant that nobody would ever suspect anything. I think the reason so many people stop and look at this car today is that they remember them from when they where you, but have not seen one in this pristine condition for a very long time.
