Owner estimates the engine has less than 5,000 miles on the rebuild. Previous owner had rebuilt it with low miles, current owner primarily drives it to car shows. Most mechanical and suspension components have been replaced or rebuilt. Restored interior – seats, carpet, headliner. All lighting and gauges appear in working order. Hideaway headlights and all electric windows function. Air conditioning is modified and blows cold. Radio antenna is manually operated.
In 2023 the battery shelf had corroded and the entire core support was replaced. Other than that, this has always been a rust free car.
History: The current owner, a noted rod and custom builder who has owned thriteen 66 Rivieras, acquired the car in 1979 and owned it for three years. He chopped the top and lowered it, winning best in class at the Portland Roadster Show, and the car was featured in the magazine Rod and Custom. Due to illness, he then sold it. The next owner retained the car for forty years, rebuilding the engine and other components. It was offered for sale at a collector swap meet in 2020, when the current owner repurchased it. He closed his shop down for three months and devoted his time to this car exclusively, refinishing, refurbishing and performance modifying it.
