About this 1966 Ford Mustang GT Convertible - K-Code

VIN: 6T08K233076

We’re proud to offer this rare K-code Mustang GT convertible. Acquired in 2013 from its fourth documented owner. According to previous ownership records, long-term ownership began in 1969 when the car was purchased with just 46k miles. At the time, it was intended as an engine donor for a race-prepped Falcon. The Mustang itself was stored without a drivetrain for over a decade before it was brought back to life in 1982. A correct 289 HiPo engine was rebuilt and installed, and the exterior was refinished in its original Candyapple Red before being parked in a basement, where it remained for the next 20 years.

The car eventually joined the prominent Mustang collection of Jacky Jones, and during that period, the speedometer was replaced. While the new unit showed just 55 miles, it’s believed the car had around 50,000 miles at the time. It currently shows 2,789 miles, which would suggest a total chassis mileage of approximately 52,789.

In 2007 under new ownserhip, the engine was rebuilt to stock specifications, with the exception of a roller cam and roller rockers replacing the original valve train. The factory Autolite four-barrel carburetor was also rebuilt by Pony Carburetors. The engine block, cylinder heads, and intake manifold all carry date codes consistent with a factory-correct drivetrain.

In preparation for the sale, we performed a full inspection, including a compression test. The car received fresh fluids throughout, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission, and differential. New spark plugs, new valve cover gaskets, the carburetor was rebuilt, new rear drum brakes and wheel cylinders, upper ball joints, and outer tie rod ends. The door glass was removed and the tracks were cleaned and lubricated. A new set of BFGoodrich Redline tires was installed, and the car was aligned.

The only unresolved item is the plastic rear window in the convertible top, which has separated from the fabric and will need to be replaced. Though truthfully, this is a car best enjoyed with the top down.

The Mustang is located at our Tacoma facility and is available for viewing/ inspection by appointment. It has been properly sorted and is ready to be enjoyed.
