Starting with model year 1968, the Mustang Shelby GT350 received a new power-plant, a 250 horsepower 302ci V8 with a Holley 4-Barrel carburettor and an aluminum Cobra intake manifold. Coupled with a four-speed manual transmission, as in this example, this all adds up to a whole lot of fun and excitement. The Mustangs destined for the Shelby program were largely built in New Jersey from that year onwards and then finished in Michigan with many specific Shelby parts, such as the fibreglass hood, special grille and taillights, and a lot of specific items like the gauges, logos, and customer-selected options.

In mid-March 1968, this Shelby GT350 with production number 02802 rolled off the assembly line. Lime Green Metallic was the colour chosen by the first owner of the car, a doctor from Boise, Idaho. The car’s history has been well-documented. In the early 2000’s, the car underwent a full restoration, preserving many original parts, such as the gauges and other specific Cobra items. The restoration was done so thoroughly and well that the finish and fitment match factory specifications and even exceed them in some aspects.

The car’s colour springs into life in sunlight, truly magnificent! The condition of the bodywork can only be described as optimal, with the same applying equally to other exterior visible components. The beautiful ten-spoke wheels, chrome work, and lighting elements: everything is in excellent condition. This observation can surely be extended to the interior because it is at least as beautiful as the exterior. The upholstery is exquisite, and the seats are fantastic. Once in place, the typically Shelby seatbelts hang, and the roll bar is, of course, present. The carpets and other general items are also in more than impeccable condition.

The dashboard with wood veneer and beautiful gauges looks in top condition, and everything you see or touch is fully functional. The technology is also in a state where there is simply nothing to criticise. The 302ci V8 performs as it should: impressive and not unnoticed.

The sound is beautiful, and the power-plant picks up powerfully and smoothly. The gearbox is also pleasant, and there are practically no unwanted noises to be heard. To complete the story, the steering, chassis, and brakes are all at the top level, and everything functions as you would expect from a cherished Shelby. The Mustang you see here is included in the Shelby Registry and has been owned exclusively by enthusiasts.
