For Sale: 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 – Rust-Free Classic, One-Family Owned
Selling my stunning 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7, a true gentleman’s sports car, as I’ve recently acquired a third Cougar and can’t keep them all. This exceptional, rust-free example has been cherished by one family its entire life and is ready for its next owner.
Vehicle Details:
Model: 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7
Color: Medium Green Metallic with Light Ivy Gold Corinthian vinyl & leather interior
Engine: 351 Windsor V8, paired with a 3.00 FMX automatic transmission
Mileage: 115,000
History: One-family owned, purchased new from Mission Ford in Riverside, CA, and resided in Downey, CA, passing from mother to daughter to estate. Assembled in Dearborn, MI.
Title: Clean title, located in Syracuse, NY
Features:
Fully functional sequential taillights, hideaway headlights, and rim-blow horn
Air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and tilt steering
Accessory package: toggle lights, wood grain dash plate, and clock
Interior courtesy lights and an attractive, well-preserved cabin
Updated brakes, shocks, and original-spec TIGER PAW whitewall tires. Pertronix coil & wires. LED Brake bulbs and New black dash pad cover as dash is dry.
New (uninstalled) parts include: interior rear deck lid & foam, interior fly panels, Original OEM outside antenna, under-battery tray & window door seals.
Re-stuffed fron seats and fresh OEM rugs for a renewed interior feel
Condition:
Ken’s Cougars calls this the cleanest, most rust-free Cougar they’ve ever seen—an outstanding original. The Medium Green Metallic paint shines but is a “10-footer” due to minor damage from a chain-link fence, which ended the car’s time with its original “little old lady” owner. The interior is highly attractive, blending classic style with careful upkeep. This is not a perfect show car but a remarkable, nearly rust-free survivor ready to cruise or display.
Why It Stands Out:
This Cougar XR7 combines old-school elegance with muscular performance, offering a driving experience that’s both refined and exhilarating. Its single-family provenance and dry California history make it a rare find for collectors or enthusiasts seeking an unmolested classic.
