This is a 1969 Firebird painted back in 1989 Black Sapphire pearl. It had 2 new quarters replaced, Outer wheel houses and Rt front fender installed. Rest of body was nice. Car sat for 15 years till prior owner bought it back in 2005. Original intention was to get the mechanicals done and repaint what needed to be touched up from sitting in the garage. Since then I have gone through the whole car and finished the floor pans, installed new trunk floor and rear frame rails. Hood has a TIA hood scoop molded into it for clearance due to the high rise intake which has been replace with a dual plane intake. So a stock hood will now fit back on the car if you want to change it back to stock. The rear shocks now mount to a Competition Engineering cross member welded to the rear frame rails instead of the· floor mounts. Rear end has Competition Engineering traction bars on it as well as their sub frame connectors.
Body is really nice with some dings and scratched from sitting around for all those years but was sanded and polished nicely. Still has a great shine to it. Paint is not perfect anymore but really nice cruise night car.
Front suspension is all new. Installed CCP tubular control arm with corrected geometry and Edelbrock 1 ½" lowering springs. Sub frame was sandblasted and powder coated chassis black along with core support· and inner fenders. Firewall and under hood are painted to match and engine compartment is detailed nicely. Front and rear bumpers were replaced when car was painted. Bright work is really nice except for the headlight bezels which are pitted as-they are original.
Engine is a 1965 389 with 1967 061 big valve big car heads mildly ported. Comp cams 507 lift 240 duration@ .050 intake side and 510 lift and 246 duration@ .050 on exhaust side with RPM intake, Mighty Demon carb, 1 5/8 ceramic .coated headers and Mallory Unilite with their 6AL ignition box. Aluminum 2"core radiator with dual 1500 CFM electric fans wired with relays, fuses and temp sensor to go on at 190 and off at 175 degrees. A March Serpentine belt drive rounds out the engine compartment. Desktop Dyno says it should be around 425 + HP.
The car was originally automatic and it was converted to stick. Back up light work off linkage to the column as from factory. Trans is a Rebuilt Muncie M21 4 speed with Centerforce Street/Strip 11' Clutch and pressure plate. Rear end is a stock I 0-bolt posi with 3.36 gears. A nice all around gear for the torque of the Pontiac motor. Very drivable. Wheels are 1977 TIA snowflake rims 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. Tires up front and rear has Nitto drag radials with 275-50-15. Additional pair or 15x7 with 235-60-15 come with the car as well, if you would like to have more of a stock look.
A Flowmaster 2 ½ inch aluminized exhaust system exits out the back with stainless tips.
Interior is beautiful. Headliner had a small hole above the back seat area that was patched. Sail panels are new, package shelf, visors and dash pad. Carpet is nice. There is no radio and dash is not cut up or molested. New Seat covers and foam are from PUI .I have the original Automatic console. The shifter and top plate for automatic are gone.
New stainless brake lines with 9" booster, new proportioning valve and 11" Disc brakes up front with stock drums in rear. The fuel lines are stainless as well with electric fuel pump and filter mounted on the rear cross member.
Again, this car is mechanically done and the body is really solid but it is a 30-YEAROLD paint job. The car shines great and is really straight but it is not perfect.
