This 1971 Ferrari Dino 246 GT is one of approximately 500 M-series examples built over a one-year production run. Chassis 01776 is noted to have been completed on March 23, 1971, before being delivered new to Motor S.A.S. di Carla Allegretti in Rome, Italy. Factory-finished in Blu Dino, it underwent a color change to red in 1977 before being imported to the US in 1985 and was subsequently acquired by the current owner in 1987. The car is powered by a 2.4-liter V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors that is mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Inside, Nero leather–trimmed seats are accompanied by a Famoso steering wheel, Veglia Borletti instrumentation, and a dogleg-pattern gated shifter.
The car rides on an independent suspension and is further equipped with 14″ Cromodora alloy wheels fitted over ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. Recent work in preparation for the sale has included replacing the water pump as well as mounting Michelin XWX tires.
The sale includes a prior Italian libretto, a Marcel Massini report, a jack kit, and transferable New York State registration listing the car as a 1972 model year.
