About this 1972 Volvo 1800E

VIN: 1826353039117

2 Owner, 1972 Volvo 1800E

Back in 1982, the current conservator of Stella Blue bought her from the first owner.

He has maintained the car mechanically to a high standard. Recent work being done included all new front suspension bushings and new Bilstein shock absorbers at all four corners.

The old school Bosch fuel injection starts the engine easily with just a couple turns.

This car has been primarily driven only on nice days, however, it was driven almost daily, unless it was raining. It was kept out under a cover in the summer and indoors for the winter. While the mechanicals are very solid and kept up by a local Volvo specialist and most of the underbody has been regularly treated with Waxoil, there is some cancer showing up on the lower edge of the wheel wells/rocker junction and under the hood, and, as the car was driven into downtown New Haven often and even into NYC several times, there are a couple small dents and the front grill is bent up.
The interior is tired. Passenger seat and rear seats actually in pretty good shape, driver seat is not. Dash is not. Owner says he has a new one .. but needs to find it. Door cards also need attention.

The carpets are matted down and faded. The passenger floor has some sort of fiberglass spread over it, but from below there is no visible rust issues.
Turn the key though and the B30 4 cylinder fires right up, oil pressure is great. Idles smoothly and drives like a 70's era sports car. Steering is solid, it shifts well and the 4 wheel power disc brakes work very well.

Someone with the skill set could fix up the small issues inside and out, have it repainted and be out on the roads again in short time.

The 1800 was ahead of it's time. Not too many cars back then came with 4 wheel, power disc brakes. No other real amenities though, windows roll up and down by hand, the mirror adjusts by hand, the seats adjust by hand, the wipers, which work, are fast, slow and off, the 15" tires (BFGoodrich Advantage T/A 195/60/15) are turned by non power worm gears. The 4 speed manual transmission however, does have an overdive that operates in 4th gear, as it should. All the lights work, the horn does not, the aftermarket radio is finicky, working sometimes and not others. All the gauges work except the speedometer.

As mentioned, this car can be driven as is, it has been for the last 30+ years, however, if looking for a fun project, this could be a rolling restoration.

The odometer shows 42,000 miles, but that has worked intermittently over the years, stopping fully several years ago, so actual mileage is unknown but guesstimate is over 80K miles.

Any questions, for many more photos and video,to schedule a time to see her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
