About this 1973 Porsche 914/4

VIN: 4732913752

We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our customers, this excellent and fully sorted 1973 Porsche 914 2.0l!

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This outstanding 914 is one of those rare offerings!

History:
The Porsche 914 or VW-Porsche 914 is a mid-engined sports car designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 until 1976. It was available only as a targa-topped two-seat roadster powered by either a flat-4 or flat-six engine.
All engines were placed amidships in front of a version of the 1969 911’s “901” gearbox configured for a mid-engined sports car. Karmann manufactured the rolling chassis at their plant, completing Volkswagen production in-house or delivering versions to Porsche for their final assembly.
The 914/6 models came with lower gear ratios and larger brakes to compensate for the greater weight and higher power output of the six-cylinder model. They also featured five-lug wheels and an ignition on the left side of the steering wheel. Suspension and handling were otherwise mostly the same. A Volkswagen-Porsche joint venture, Volkswagen of America, handled export to the U.S., where both versions were badged and sold as Porsches. The four-cylinder cars were sold as Volkswagen-Porsches at European Volkswagen dealerships.
For 1973 the discontinued 914/6 was replaced in the lineup by a variant powered by a new 100 bhp (75 kW; 101 PS) 2.0 L, fuel-injected version of Volkswagen’s Type 4 engine.

This car:
This 1973 Porsche 914 2.0 is a fantastic and fully sorted example with the highly desired 2.0 Type 4 fuel injected 2.0l engine producing 101hp. The car underwent cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in 2013 that included overhauling the engine and transaxle, refurbishing the interior, replacing suspension and braking components, and refinishing the exterior and engine bay. A detailed breakdown of all the work carried out is available on request.
Finished in Silver Metallic over black upholstery this is a nice change from all the yellow 914s out there.
Additional equipment includes the appearance group package, fog lights, chrome bumpers with front bumperettes, forged 15″ Fuchs wheels, a Bilstein sport suspension kit, and a period Momo steering wheel.

The glass is all original, one small in lower windshield.
The exterior is in outstanding condition. Bodywork and paint are concours quality.
This 914 won numerous shows including:
1989 – Driving Event 4th in class.
1993 – Driving Event 2nd class.
2013 – Driving Event 1st in class.
2015 – Driving Event 1st in class.
2021 – Driving Event 1st in class, Concours 1st in Preservation class, Historic Display participant.
Both trunks are unrestored and excellent.

This is a car that you can drive, autocross and show at a nationally competitive level. Very few miles on the rebuilt engine and transmission.
