I have owned this car since March of 1985 and it was my occasional daily driver until late 1998. The optional L82 engine is a 4-bolt main, 350 CUI, rated at 205 HP. It has 9:1 compression, a longer duration cam, larger valves, impact-extruded pistons, forged crankshaft. In 1995, with 146,900 miles on the odometer, the engine and transmission were rebuilt by Corvette Service Co in Carpinteria Ca. The engine was upgraded with a GM 300 HP cam profile, Mallory ignition and true dual exhaust. However, it does not make 300 HP! The car was fully restored in March 2003. It was painted 50th anniversary red, the rubber bumpers front and rear were replaced with fiberglass bumpers, the seats recovered with reproduction seat covers, and all carpeting replaced. It was then driven on the 50th Anniversary Corvette Caravan from LA to the factory in Bowling Green Ky. It now has 158,434 miles on the odometer. While this is not a collectable matching number’s car it is 90% stock . It is a unique Corvette. There were 38465 corvettes produced in 1975 but only 2372 were L82 cars. So, if you want a low production car but don’t want to pay 25 or 30 thousand dollars this could be a good choice for you. If the car is registered in California, it never has to be smogged.
The car comes with the original vinyl bags for the t-tops when removed, and a custom fitted California car cover. Also original HEI distributer, smog air injector pump, and original fake dual exhaust system.
Known issues:
The air conditioning was converted to R134a refrigerant in 2002 but is not working now.
The aftermarket AM/FM radio is not working.
The fuel gauge is not working.
The fasten seat belt light will not go out
