Actual mileage unknown. It is a 2-door chassis cab with a 8 x 12 foot cargo flatbed. It has a naturally aspirated Detroit 6.2L diesel engine which is known to be a stronger engine block than following years (it is the first year model for this engine). This vehicle is great for hauling cargo, such as large auto parts, firewood, brush/shrub/tree clippings, removal of construction materials, moving household goods, and so forth.
The exhaust pipes are clean for any non-DPF diesel engine (only a little dry soot), though the engine gaskets and seals leak oil (the engine does not seem to burn oil at all, it just leaks oil a lot). The two starting batteries are in need of replacement, though the vehicle starts right up when jump started (just cycle the glow plugs several times before engaging the starter motor). I used this as my only vehicle and daily driver from May 2021 until April 2025. This vehicle has been reliable for the entire time that I have owned it. I am getting to the age where loading heavy goods is becoming an issue, and also, I now have another vehicle to use as a daily driver. The paint is faded, chipped, and surface rust is starting to show there.
Currently, the brake master cylinder is leaking at the input action rod. The power steering pump has failed and is in need of replacement (manual steering mode allows driving, just difficult to steer at low speeds), and all four of the power steering hoses are leaking and are need replacement (and I have not been able to find a vendor who has new stock - probably need to have the hydraulic hose supply shop fabricate all four replacement hoses/fittings). The transmission leaks fluid, though adding a pint of transmission fluid every now and then keeps the transmission operating fine. The steering column has been loose, yet useable, for the entire time that I have owned the vehicle. One of the two fuel tanks is in need of replacement due to leakage (a new replacement fuel tank and mounting straps are included with this sale). The manual window regulators should probably be replaced (a bit difficult to roll the passenger side up and down, but it is still do-able). The door hinge pins and bushings are in dire need of replacement. And now, the antifreeze coolant has reached its service life interval (so it is time for a new thermostat and antifreeze with SCA, supplemental coolant additives for diesel engines).
I have many auto parts that are included with the sale of this vehicle. These parts include: brake master cylinder, brake Hydro-Boost unit, a rebuilt power steering pump, passenger side front control arms, one front shock absorber, idler arm, Pittman arm, a new fuel tank with mounting straps and a new fuel sending module, a new fuel water separator, a new fuel filter, new transmission filter and pan gasket, along with four used nylon cargo straps.
The previous owner told me that he had installed rebuilt cylinder heads, a rebuilt injection pump, rebuilt fuel injectors, new glow plugs, new wheel hubs (front and rear) with new brake friction materials, and a new dash pad (check the cost on LMC Truck). The previous owner told me that he had fabricated a custom front bumper that can hold compressed air (though I have never attempted using this feature, because an uncertified pressure vessel can be deadly to use). At some point in the past, before I purchased the vehicle, someone had replaced the passenger side door.
In June 2021, just after I had first purchased the vehicle, I installed a new fuel tank vacuum switching valve, replaced all of the fuel hoses (to correct a loss-of-fuel-prime issue) along with all the fuel filters, and I upgraded to an electrical lift pump with a momentary switch to prime the injection pump's fuel supply (loss of fuel prime requires a 19-mm wrench to loosen the fuel lines to each of the fuel injectors, and takes 40 minutes of cranking/waiting for the starter to cool and then cranking again, in order to get the injection pump primed - which is only required if the fuel supply is interrupted to the injection pump, such as... Completely running out of fuel... or having a fuel supply hose that is old and getting porous, not leaking, just having microscopic pores like a drinking straw with a non-visible crack in the side - If that thought scares you, then go buy a new Hyundai Motors car and forget ever purchasing a man's vehicle).
In June 2021, I installed a new heater core. Also, in June 2021, to correct a surging engine, I installed a new timing gear set, along with a new harmonic balancer and a new water pump and coolant hoses. In October 2021, I had to replace the driver side front control arms (due to a fatigued/cracked lower unit). Then when the weather turned cold in October 2021, I upgraded the alternator (from the 37-amp OEM unit) to a 105-amp GM unit, which solved no-start issues related to lack of electrical power. I replaced the starter motor in December 2022. I had new rear tires installed in September 2024.
