This 1983 DeLorean DMC-12 was initially delivered to Consolidated International in Columbus, Ohio. Showing 43,000 miles, the car is powered by a 2.85-liter V6 paired with a three-speed automatic transaxle and features unfinished stainless steel body panels over a gray leather interior. Equipment includes gullwing doors, rear window louvers, 14″ and 15″ turbine-style aluminum wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning, and a cassette stereo. This comes with a car cover, a clean Texas title.
The Giugiaro-designed unfinished stainless steel bodywork is fitted over a composite underbody and Lotus-derived double-Y steel backbone chassis. Features include gray urethane bumper caps, counterbalanced gullwing doors, a louvered engine cover, dual exhaust outlets, black side stripes and moldings, quadruple headlights, and a front spoiler.
It has staggered-diameter 14″ and 15″ turbine-style aluminum wheels. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The front and rear brake calipers, pads, rotors, and hoses were replaced and the brake fluid was changed in the past few years.
The high-back bucket seats are upholstered in gray leather, and interior equipment includes air conditioning, a cassette stereo, power-operated windows, central locking, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a tilting and telescoping steering column. The headliner has been replaced.
The three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level.
The rear-mounted 2.85-liter Peugeot-Renault-Volvo V6 was factory-rated at 130 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transaxle. The engine has the improved automatic governor for the automatic transmission. The fuel tank pump has been replaced and the pick up system in the tank has been improved to eliminate the starved fuel issue that many cars experience. Also an extra line was installed in the engine to eliminate the problem of air being trapped in the coolant system which could lead to overheating. Many nuts, bolts and screws replaced with stainless. Radio is not the greatest as it is 1980's technology and it picks up engine noise.
