Behold! The mighty fourth generation Toyota Pickup (N50, N60, N70) renowned for its unending durability! Featuring the legendary 2.4L 22R (carbureted) 4-cylinder engine with a 4 speed manual transmission. These trucks are considered workhorses, with documented cases of over a Million miles with proper maintenance. I won't go on too much about them because if you are interested you likely already know what it is and if you don't you likely won't pay what I'm asking for it. Mine has been well loved and recently passed smog.
This truck is a beast. It’s been in sunny California since new. I’ve owned it since 2017 and my friend owned it for the 7 years prior to that. She got it with 157K miles on it and named it Bruce and used it as a daily driver. When she upgraded to a sprinter van I inherited it. The transmission is smooth and satisfying to drive. I get around 19mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. The Toyo tires have about 6K miles on them. Bruce has some surface rust but the frame is rust free and straight. I added a JVC KD-X370BTS stereo with a removable face, bluetooth, new speakers, and an external microphone so you can talk handsfree and listen to Spotify etc. I also added a steel rear bumper and a molded dash cover.
I had a 1987 in the same color and used it to deliver pizzas in the snow of Portland Maine. It never let me down and neither has this one. It’s our third vehicle and we just got an SUV so I can’t really justify having it as much as I love it. It makes me and anyone else who drives it happy. So it’s time to pass it along to someone who will drive it and love it like I do. There's no A/C but A/C was an option in 1986. There's a place for the button on the dash and the empty spot on the block where the compressor bolts on, so I imagine you could pull a unit from another Gen 4 or get one online and install it. I never need A/C in Santa Monica.
If you know what this beautiful truck is then you know it’s worth at least what I’m asking and the value of the mighty Hilux contunues to rise. They are selling for 10s of thousands of dollars in excellent or restored condition. I’m not in any hurry to sell it (and deep down I don't really want to) so please don’t waste our time low balling me. I might come down on the price if your story is good enough. I don't consider "will you take $500?" a good story. The color is "Wine Red" but that wasn't an option on the drop down. It's kind of like Burgundy or Burnt Sienna. It's also a lot like the pictures I've included. If you're reading this then it's still available. If you ask me if it's still available I will assume you haven't read my ad and are probably not actually interested. Hit me up if you're serious and if you sound like a human being, I'll reply. Be well!
