The 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme is generally sturdy, but owners report a few repeat trouble spots:

1. Stalling in gear – usually traced to a mis-adjusted choke, dirty carb, or cracked vacuum lines.
2. 200-4R automatic transmission – soft 2-3 shifts and eventual overdrive clutch failure if the TV cable isn’t adjusted perfectly.
3. Digital-dash (if equipped) – failing solder joints can make the speedo/tach go dark; re-flowing the board usually fixes it.
4. 307 V8 intake-manifold gasket – oil seepage/ coolant seepage after 80 k miles; replacement gaskets solve it.
